Synopsis:

Millie Alvarez is a college senior with dreams of being a best selling science fiction writer like her favorite author, sci-fi mastermind Luke Danielson. She fantasizes about dating Rod, her handsome, young writing professor, who has a fan base of his own.

Of course no one knows this but her two best friends, Fran and Mike. In the real world, Millie is anything but a success. She always gets casted in the worst roles in her college's musical productions, has a single subscriber to her writing blog, and struggles to be with anyone but Fran and Mike. She even avoids meeting Trent, an exchange student from London who matches with her on the dating app Charmed. Sam always wants to hang out with Millie, but he isn't her type; he's too skinny and happy and won't stop asking Millie about all her favorite things.

But things spiral out of Millie's control when Fran moves out of their dorm room to live with her sister and her estranged dad won't stop calling her to make amends. To top it all off, the pain inside of Millie's chest is worsening. Millie must decide if she's ready to face everything head on. Can she do it? Is she stronger than she thinks she is? All Millie knows is that her life is one big mess that she cannot seem to escape.

My Review:
Millie is a senior in college trying to find her way in life. She isn't sure what she is going to do after college, but she knows she wants to stay in LA with her best friends, Fran and Mike and try to be a best selling sci-fi writer! When things don't go as planned, can Millie hold it together or will she let it win?
I had such high hopes for this book, but to me it just fell a little flat. I just couldn't connect with Millie. I spent most of the book wanting to yell at her. She came across as such a snotty brat, I couldn't help it. She is supposed to be represented as having anxiety but I just didn't feel it. I have it myself so I understand the feelings but I feel like she just seems to have everything her way or she just shut down.
I liked the premise of the book. I think it has great potential and maybe with a little work on Millie as  character, this could be a 5 star book. I liked following the college and all the things that go on there. I also really enjoyed Mike as a character. I felt like he was one of the realist things in the book and made total sense. He was such a great friend to both Fran and Millie and kept a relationship going. I give that man props to be able to pull that off!
Sam! I loved Sam. He was such a sweetheart and he was the reason that I finished the book. His character was wonderful and I think could suck anyone into the pages just for him. He did so much for Millie it was astounding. I understand his reasonings and kept every bit of emotion I know he was also feeling. I could think of this man's smile and never get tired of it.

I like that the author tried to portray anxiety and the dangers it can cause on someone. Panic attacks are real even if most of society seems to think it is just people's cry for attention. I wish that the anxiety in this book felt more real with what was being said, but I do still love the thought.

I feel like the author did pull into herself towards the end of the book. I was dragging to read it through most of it and even thought about giving up on it, but as I stated before, Sam kept me reading. The author eventually gains her stride and ends it on a strong note though I feel it wrapped up a little too quickly I still very much enjoyed the ending. I wish she would have had that amount of emotion and feeling that she put in the last 20% of the book to the whole thing.

I am glad I kept reading and was able to find out what happened. I was able to read the last page of this book with a smile on my face.

Synopsis:

Jackson is rough, ornery, and on most days the last person you would want to be around. He's a lumberjack in the backwoods of Georgia and he knows more than anyone that when a gorgeous woman shows up on your property uninvited it ain't fate.

Not knowing what to make of the situation, and wanting no part in the beautiful woman's drama he tells her she needs to leave and that he ain't no saving grace but a rough countryman.

When she refuses to take no for an answer he knows he's gonna have to take matters into his own hands and get her to leave himself but one touch is all it takes to have him weak in the knees.

Lola ain't going back down the road to where her ex-boyfriend dropped her off. Not if she can help it. Jackson doesn't want to help her but she can tell it's just a front he's putting up and that he's actually attracted to her. If she can get him to take her in and protect her then she knows everything will be okay.

Will things between the brute of a lumberjack and the sassy-refuses-to-take-no for an answer heroine work out or will her past come back to haunt her?

My Review:
Jackson is a tough lumberjack that lives out in the woods by himself...just the way he likes it. He doesn't know what to think when Lola comes walking down his driveway, which happens to be in the middle of no where. When you think fate has arrived at your doorstep, what do you do?

This was such a sweet story. Yes, there are plenty of sex scenes, but it wasn't your typical unemotional sex scene. They seems more about the love and emotion that was there than anything else. It was a nice thing to read. I was able to read it sitting right next to my boyfriend and not feel uncomfortable.

I really liked Jackson. He seemed like such a sweetheart that closed himself off from the world. I don't blame him. I would love to live out in the middle of no where and be left alone. He tries to show himself as a badass with no emotions but you can tell that just isn't true. He has such a wonderful heart and it made me love reading about him or reading his side when we were blessed with it.

Lola isn't the typical female character. Yes, she is running from something but she isn't entirely helpless. She is a woman with a rough past that is trying to sort it all out. She spends time in confusion and pain and not sure if she should let someone else in, though her heart is telling her she should. I loved reading her raw emotions and feeling her as a character. I felt her fear as she had it and I also felt her moments of happiness, too.

I am in the middle of a move right now and I still took the time to sit down and read this. I was so excited to get my hands on it and knew I had to devour it right away. The author doesn't disappoint with her romantic happily ever after stories. I was able to get a moment of relaxation and feelings of happiness within my stressful life and it was just what I needed. I know this book can definitely put a smile on anyone's face no matter how your life is going. Pick yourself up a copy and be ready to not get up until you get to the last page!

Synopsis:

Lyra
One day, I'm doing my job and minding my own business...

Okay. Maybe barging into your friend's fake-slash-real fiancé's coworker's office isn't considered minding my own business. But I am doing my job. That part is true.

When one of your girlfriends needs you to have their back, you do it. Even when she hasn't asked. And that's what I'm doing today.

It's too bad his kisses are infuriating.

Except his kisses are addicting. And I can't stop thinking about them.

Especially now that I'm having his baby.

I absolutely should not tell the girls about this at the next Thirsty Thursday...

-------------------

Blake
I've suddenly become the CEO for a very successful tech company, which should be enough of a surprise for one weekend. But no. Life throws another one at me.

The board now wants me to follow in the old CEO's footsteps and become a family man. But Chaz didn't just bring Shiree into my life. He brought her best friend into it too.

It's too bad she's feisty when she's pissed.

Except it's so damn hot when she's feisty. And I absolutely need more.

What if the board is right about this "family man" stuff after all?

My Review:
This book picks up right where book 1 left off. I enjoyed that we not only got to find out how everything ended with Blake and Lyra but also that we got the full story of how it all began.

The author does a great job of making the book about Blake and Lyra but also gives us little tidbits of Chaz and Shiree still. I love that about this book and know it will continue in book 3.

The romance in this book isn't the typical romance. There is a lot of confusion between the characters and also a lot of assumptions done that makes everything go crazy, but it is done in the right way. You can't help but keep flipping the pages to find out what happens next.

I loved Blake in this book. I didn't think I would because of the way his character came off in book one, but the author sucks you in and let's you get to know the real Blake. I am now a big fan of his and want to give him a huge hug.

Lyra definitely has lots of things she needs to sort out within herself, but she is still a wonderful character to follow. She makes you wanna pull your hair out one minute then hold her while giving her tissues the next. She is a strong stubborn character with a heart of gold.

This book to me was wonderful and worthy of anyone who loves romance and suspenseful times. There is sexual content in the book, but it isn't hardcore and adds to the book. It makes the scenes with the characters even stronger and makes the book even better in return.

Be sure to get yourself a copy of this series, you won't regret it. I will not be not so patiently waiting for book 3 to come out so I can be sucked into these characters all over again!!
