Synopsis:

Drama student Hannah Evans isn't kissing any frogs on her path to find Prince Charming. She's determined to share the perfect first kiss -- with the perfect boy -- in the perfect place -- or she's not kissing at all. When Hannah meets a cute ginger-haired boy in first class lounge in the London airport, she knows he's 'The One.'

Pop star Theo Callahan is on the road to get as far away as possible from his back-stabbing best friend, and his supermodel girlfriend who broke his heart. Until one shy smile from Hannah has him rethinking all of his travel plans.

Theo is smitten, but he's worried she's just a groupie in search of the ultimate selfie. Can Theo learn to trust Hannah in time to share one perfect first kiss, or will Hannah be forced to kiss a frog?

My Review:
This was such a cute and fun read. I knew it was short and that usually scares me with books. When a book is under 100 pages it usually doesn't get any good character depth and the book feels rushed. That was not the case here.

I love Theo. He seems like such a misunderstood nerdy guy that is in a spotlight anyway. His character sucked me in right away and made me want more and more of him as the story progressed. He is definitely on my book boyfriend list!

Hannah is a sweetheart. She reminds me a lot of myself though I am too antisocial to ever want to be an actress. She stays true to what she wants as a first kiss and refuses to let even her best friend talk her into kissing a bunch of frogs. I love that about her. She doesn't change for anyone and it has made her a believable and true character.

This book is mainly set in between flights at airports, but you do see some at Hannah's hometown and on the planes as well. It was easy to picture it all and I know the feeling of the fear of flying oh so well.

The emotions and thoughts of the characters are very prominent through the story and it makes it even more enjoyable. The book alternates between Theo and Hannah. It is done at the perfect times to really get a good grasp of both of the characters.

The author made a wonderful story that makes me already want to re-read it and experience these two all over again! Everyone needs to run and get this book right now and devour it for all the goodness it has!

Excerpt

Staring at myself in the mirror propped up in the corner of my bedroom, I wondered, How the hell did I get here? I stood there for another ten minutes, thinking I better contemplate something else.
My outfit included black jeans, converse, and a black tank top. My wardrobe mostly consisted of jeans, hoodies, sneakers, and boots. No dresses. In fact, the only formal dresses I had owned were the two I had worn to prom. The first one was to my best friend Shannon’s prom. Billy asked me to be his date after his girlfriend dumped him two days before to go with one of the football stars. Bitch. I donated that dress to a local charity. The other dress was worn to my own prom the following year. That dress was now long gone, buried at the bottom of some garbage landfill, being wormed back into the earth. Good riddance.
I was ready for my parents’ famous Sunday barbeque—well, my mom and stepdad, but I just called him “Dad” now. They loved having the family over for dinner. I didn’t know why they thought it was such a big deal when one of us was always there during the week, mooching dinner. If I were honest with myself, the real reason they had these dinners was to check on my mental stability. Over the past few years, those dinners had become a regular occurrence after I moved out to attend college.
I had taken a year off after high school to get myself back on track after I’d had a major meltdown that would have taken out three towns. Now I was coming back at a turtle’s pace, but I was coming back.
High school was so long ago, filled with great memories of football games, soccer games, pep rallies, dances, drinking, and school pranks. It had been the ultimate high school experience…until I had started dating Steve. Prom night had destroyed all those happy memories. That evening had twisted me up inside, shut me down so tightly nothing was going to penetrate my Teflon wall. It was the closest I had ever felt to death.
Death…Maybe death had occurred, just not in the physical sense.
I knew what death looked like, and I knew how people acted around it.
My father died when I was four. My memory was cloudy of him, but I remembered that day clearly.
My father lay in a plain mahogany coffin, wearing his favorite blue, checkered shirt. I had no idea why I knew it was his favorite; I just knew. He also had on a pair of black jeans, his boots, and his leather vest that had patches on it, like the other men at the funeral. To this day, every once in a while, I would get a whiff of worked-in leather, and it would remind me of him. I didn’t know why I would remember that above all else, though.
I also remembered a man at the back of the parlor, dressed similar to my dad. He had several tattoos, as did the rest of the men who stood with him and shook his hand.
“Mommy, is Daddy sleeping? Why can’t I wake him? Why won’t he wake up? Daddy, wake up!” I remembered saying.
My mother took my hand and brought me over to the casket where she laid her hand on my dad’s. “Daddy died, sweetheart. His soul is already in Heaven. His body is here so that all his friends and family can say good-bye.” As she explained death to me, it was the first time I saw tears stream down her saddened face.

From March 5th to 9th only!
Synopsis:

This is a standalone, historical/paranormal romance. Its mature themes – violence, religious war, and pagan rituals – might not be appropriate for audiences under 18.
When ancient gods ruled and Druids kept Faith alive, the Celts thrived as a democratic, matriarchal society. Then savage Roman soldiers swept across Europe, killing and enslaving. The Celts did not succumb without a fight. Their Old Ways survived centuries of ruthless domain until another menace loomed: a tortured god worshiped in cold stone buildings. The sacred shores of Avalon began to drift away, the mists threatened to hide the island from mortal eyes forever.
Against the bleak backdrop of war, the gorgeous Scottish Highlands stood tall, sheltering its inhabitants from greedy invaders. Yet the reach of the eagle banners was long and the highlanders turned to the Goddess for protection. However, the sacred groves felt silent and grim as Avalon faded away. Once sad, pealing bells began to sound strangely comforting while the high walls of monasteries offered an alluring barrier from violence. Caught in the middle of this centuries-old war, a young High Priestess might be Avalon’s last chance.
Wise beyond her years and powerful like no other Priestess in her lifetime, Rowen had served the Goddess faithfully, forsaking her family and the company of her soulmate. When the Lady of the Lake asks for another sacrifice, it might be one too many for her scarred heart. How could she obey the Goddess without betraying Caddaric? Could she trust Eochaid, who embodied everything she despised and hated? Would she be able to fulfill her duties without losing her soul?
Caddaric had been Rowen’s companion in countless lives; but, now, they existed in different realms. Beautiful Rowen lived in the mortal world while sweet Caddaric remained in the sacred isle of Avalon, watching over her. Could he step aside to allow another man – a flesh and blood man – to become her protector?
Eochaid had sworn to protect the Old Ways. The rude warrior never quite understood his faith yet his loyal heart belonged to the Goddess. A gorgeous, fiery High Priestess was not in his plans. He would risk his life to protect Rowen; but, would the Goddess safeguard his heart? Could he defend the bewitching maiden from himself?
When stakes were so high that a simple mistake could cost their very world, a priestess, a Druid, and a warrior must learn to trust each other and the mysterious ways of the Goddess. Their success would save Avalon. Their failure would tear the island from the human realm forever, condemning it to oblivion.
Failure was not an option.

Author: Ashley Bostock
Release Date: December 26, 2016
Publisher: Self-Published
Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars
Pages: 199
Format: ebook
Tour Host: Xpresso Book Tours

Synopsis:

I’ve always been Miranda Phillips, the town pariah. Growing up with neglectful parents, having sought attention from all the guys that were willing to give it to me, I wasn’t the most well-behaved kid in Lone Star. Not to mention all of the juvenile delinquent acts I’ve committed in my past.
But now I am Lone Star’s only reporter and I’ve come a long way from being that lost, troubled girl, even if most of the town still judged me for it. I don’t allow anyone to get in the way of what I want. Including Ryan John. So when I corner him in a dark hallway and get him to succumb to the sizzling attraction between us, I know I’m playing with fire.
***
Even though I’ve successfully avoided her for two months, I haven’t forgotten how she tastes or what she feels like in my arms. And when I get sent a mysterious letter from some company wanting to buy my thousand shares of water rights that have been in my family for over a hundred years, I’m convinced that there is no one…err, better equipped, to help me than Lone Star’s reporter, Miranda Phillips.
I know how desperately she wants me and this letter gives me all the reason I need to spend one night with the girl from the wrong side of town. One night in exchange for her tight investigative skills. And believe me, she’s tight, in more ways than one. One night. Because Miranda is trouble and being on the city council, as well as guardian to my younger brother and sister, means I can’t afford trouble.
Even if it comes packaged just the way I like.

My Review:
As I first started reading this book, I will admit I didn't like it. All it seemed to talk about was sex and I couldn't really get a good grasp on the characters. I almost said I couldn't finish this book because of it. But then I got sucked into the pages. I had to know what happened to Miranda and Ryan as well as find out who was behind all the crazy going on in Ryan's life.

I really liked Miranda. Usually the male character tends to be my favorite, but for once, the female snags that title. She had such a rough life yet she still held her head up high. I was cheering her on the whole time and so proud of what all she does throughout the book. She has come such a long way from when she was younger yet she is still judged by it each and every day. I guess that is how it goes in small towns, but she is so much more than what they think!

Ryan was also a sweet character though he definitely had some stuff he needed to work out. I still loved him character and all he represented. Having to raise your two younger siblings while you are still young yourself isn't easy and I understand his decisions, though they aren't always the right ones.

The romance in this one was so sweet but intense. I liked being able to watch it unfold and I found myself smiling as I was reading on more than one occasion. There is quite a bit of sexual scenes in this book, but they get more and more bearable as you go on. I found at first it was a bit much but I think it does make sense as the story goes on and why it was done that way in the beginning.

I felt there was several hidden messages as you go through and when you close this book, you will sit there thinking about your own life and where it needs to be headed. I like books that are like that. You get a nice romance on top of so wisdom to take with you when it's over.

This was a book I ended up enjoying and am glad that I pushed through the beginning. I think if I were to re-read it the beginning would make a lot more sense and I would enjoy it alot more. I plan to do this soon so I can get the most out of the story. I hope all of you give this one a chance, you won't be sorry if you do!

Rose Petal Graves
Author: Olivia Wildenstein
Release Date: March 29, 2017
Publisher: Self-Published
Tour Host: YA Bound Book Tours

Synopsis:

ANCIENT SECRETS CANNOT REMAIN BURIED FOREVER.

Founded two centuries ago by a powerful tribe of Gottwa Indians, Rowan was a quiet town, so quiet that I fled after graduation. Staying away was the plan, but Mom died suddenly.

Dad said she suffered a stroke after she dug up one of the ancient graves in our backyard, which happens to be the town cemetery. Creepy, I know. Creepier still, there was no corpse inside the old coffin, only fresh rose petals.

As we made preparations for Mom’s burial, new people began arriving in Rowan, unnervingly handsome and odd people. I begged them to leave, but they stayed, because their enemies—my ancestors—were beginning to awaken.

Excerpt

I trembled as I advanced toward the ring of rowan trees that protected the sacred piece of land in which my ancestors were buried. The cold wind and thick snowflakes stung my cheeks, but cooled the welt the faerie guards had exacted on my hand. I spun around to see if the faeries had remained, but no bodies lit up the cold night. They probably fled back to their island to inform their fellow faes that another hunter had risen.

The wind blew Gwenelda’s waist-long black hair against a long, broad, bare torso that ended in a face so chiseled it looked carved from stone. I trailed my eyes down the man’s chest, over the inked arabesques tattooed on his skin, over the animal-hide loincloth that covered so little of him...

Olivia Wildenstein grew up in New York City, the daughter of a French father with a great sense of humor, and a Swedish mother whom she speaks to at least three times a day. She chose Brown University to complete her undergraduate studies and earned a bachelor’s in comparative literature. After designing jewelry for a few years, Wildenstein traded in her tools for a laptop computer and a very comfortable chair. This line of work made more sense, considering her college degree.

When she’s not writing, she’s psychoanalyzing everyone she meets (Yes. Everyone), eavesdropping on conversations to gather material for her next book, baking up a storm (that she actually eats), going to the gym (because she eats), and attempting not to be late at her children’s school (like she is 4 out of 5 mornings, on good weeks).

Wildenstein lives with her husband and three children in Geneva, Switzerland, where she’s an active member of the writing community.

Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars
Pages: 63

Synopsis:

When Cassie finds a magic pair of glasses that allow her to see fairies, she has to figure out where they came from . . . and what the fairies want her to do with them.

A 12,000 word children's fantasy story.

My Review:
I haven't read many children's stories, but I love my fairies so of course I had to read this one. I decided to squeeze it in between my review books I am reading since I knew it was a short book.

This was such a cute story that had me sucked in. I love the idea of the glasses and how Cassie goes about it. She tries to do right and give the glasses back but finds out so much more!

I love picturing the fairies as she described them. They sounded so cute even though anyone who knows fairies knows they are usually up to no good. She is smart though about it and I love that about her.

I will definitely be picking up the other 2 stories in this trilogy to find out how it all ends. Cassie is such a cute character that deserves to be followed and know how everything ends up for her!

 Excerpt

In this moment, I hate my mother, and I’m mad as all hell that she isn’t here for me to yell at. To demand she tell me the Goddamned truth and explain why she thought it was such a good idea to lie about virtually every facet of my life. My hands ball into fists at my sides, and I’m barely holding it together.
“I also discovered that he was working for a firm in Belfast at the time your mother told you she met him. He wasn’t working locally, Faye. There’s no way Saoirse could’ve met him in the way she described to you.”
Liar! How could she do this to me!
I don’t even know who I am anymore, and every memory I have of my parents is tarnished by the knowledge that it was a fabrication. That I was being lied to every single day of my life.
Why? Were they ever planning on telling me the truth?
Hopping up, enraged and upset, and struggling with a million other emotions, I sweep the contents of my dresser clear across the floor. Picking up the stool, I fling it across the room, watching as it smashes against the wall, the sounds of splintering wood adding to James’s shocked gasps. Tears erupt from my eyes, and my cries fill the room as I slump to the ground, sobbing uncontrollably into my hands.
Ky kneels down, gently wrapping his arms around me from behind. His limbs are tense, his arms a little stiff, and I feel it too—the lure of his warmth and the call of his body battling against what we’ve been told, forcing us to maintain a certain distance. “Kyler.” James’s voice contains clear warning.
“Shut up, Dad. She needs me, and I’m only comforting her. You’re the one who fucked up here, not us. And you’re a damn hypocrite to criticize us after all you’ve done.”
Ky’s statement is paradoxical in part, because the truth is more complex than that. Is James the hypocrite or are we? I don’t know what to think anymore. I massage my temples, digging my fingers into my skin with brutal intensity, welcoming the pressure. What is right and what is wrong? I’m not sure I know anymore, and my jumbled brain is incapable of constructing logical thought patterns. __________________________________
