On a planet where violence and vengeance rule, in a galaxy where some are favored by fate, everyone develops a currentgift, a unique power meant to shape the future. While most benefit from their current gifts, Akos and Cyra do not—their gifts make them vulnerable to others’ control. Can they reclaim their gifts, their fates, and their lives, and reset the balance of power in this world?

Cyra is the sister of the brutal tyrant who rules the Shotet people. Cyra’s currentgift gives her pain and power—something her brother exploits, using her to torture his enemies. But Cyra is much more than just a blade in her brother’s hand: she is resilient, quick on her feet, and smarter than he knows.

Akos is from the peace-loving nation of Thuvhe, and his loyalty to his family is limitless. Though protected by his unusual currentgift, once Akos and his brother are captured by enemy Shotet soldiers, Akos is desperate to get his brother out alive—no matter what the cost. When Akos is thrust into Cyra’s world, the enmity between their countries and families seems insurmountable. They must decide to help each other to survive—or to destroy one another.

  1. I'm not too sure about this one, it sounds really amazing but I don't trust the author after Allegiant. I hope you love it if you get a chance to read it.

  2. I'm starting this one soon! I'm kind of ambivalent when it comes to Roth's books (I liked Divergent but hated Insurgent and Allegiant). This one has problematic content so I'm going to be reading it very closely. I hope you enjoy this book when you get a chance to read it!

Have a fabulous week, Amber. :)

  3. I was very scared to read this one because of what a disaster Allegiant was, but I really ended up enjoying it! Hope you love it ^_^

  4. Niiice! I cannot wait to read this one! I'm one of those weird people who liked the Divergent books! Yup, all three! I actually felt a little hesitant over this one. Like major expectations and whatnot but I think I was overworrying myself. This one should be good! Hope we both end up loving it!
