Give in to the Glamour…

Sixteen-year-old Ryann Carroll has just run into the guy who saved her life ten years ago. You might think she'd be happy to see him again. Not exactly. She's a bit underdressed (as in skinny-dipping) and he's not supposed to exist.

After her father's affair, all Ryann wants is to escape the family implosion fallout and find a little peace. She also wouldn't mind a first date that didn't suck, but she's determined not to end up like her mom: vulnerable, betrayed, destroyed. Ryann's recently moved back to her childhood home in rural Mississippi, the same place where ten years earlier she became lost in the woods overnight and nearly died.

She's still irresistibly drawn to those woods. There she encounters the boy who kept her from freezing to death that long ago winter night and was nowhere to be seen when rescuers arrived. He's still mysterious, but now all grown-up and gorgeous, too. And the more she's with him, the greater the threat he poses to Ryann's strict policy-- never want someone more than he wants you.

Seventeen-year-old Lad knows the law of his people all too well: Don't get careless and Don't get caught. It's allowed his race to live undetected in this world for thousands of years, mentioned only in flawed and fading folklore…

Lad's never been able to forget about Ryann since that night ten years ago. When he sees her again, his fascination re-ignites and becomes a growing desire that tempts him to break all the rules. He's not even supposed to talk to a human, much less fall in love with one.

And the timing is atrocious. The Assemblage is coming, the rift between the Light and Dark is widening, and mysterious celebrity fan pods are becoming more and more widespread and influential. Lad may have to trade his own chance at happiness to keep the humans, especially Ryann, blissfully unaware and safe.

My Review:
This was the first review book that I signed up for in the year of 2015. When I saw that it seemed to be Fae related, I had to jump on it. I knew I couldn't pass up anything to do with Fae in any way. This was a wonderful book that sucked me in right away and had me sneaking off to read more.

Ryann is a wonderful girl that seems to have a good head on her shoulders. She really tries to do what it right for others even when it might hurt herself in the process. She wasn't pushy or annoying to me in any way that most female characters seemed to be. The anger she felt was justified, the few times she was angry that is. She followed her heart as well as her gut. The good thing about this character was both of them were on a good path, not one that made you want to rip your hair out.

Lad was amazing. He was such a sweetheart. He had to try to decide if he was loyal to his family or if he wanted to expose himself to Ryann. He battles with it so hard. When he is thrust into a situation that gives him no choice, he rises to the occasion heroically and without any regret. His morals and heart were in the right place even if he didn't understand it at the time. I do know that I definitely seem to have a thing for Fae boys, no matter what kind.

Nox was a character that I didn't know what to do about. He came off as one way, but tried to tell Ryann he was different. I still felt like he had some secret that he was trying very hard to hide. I started to get clues and figured it all out way before Ryann was able to. It definitely made more sense when I tried to look back at him. Especially at the end. I was cheering for him a little bit just because I felt bad the way Ryann was treating him. I definitely went team Lad though.

The book is set mainly in the woods by Ryann's house. Though you do get glimpses of her house as well as a restaurant in town called The Skillet. This book talks about the south a lot. I happen to be a southern bell myself so I see pretty much everything that goes on in this book on a daily basis. If you didn't happen to be southern, I think it would be very easy to understand just the same. Everyone knows we love our sweet tea and we add ingredients to our butter when we eat.

There was a great deal of this book that was predictable, but it wasn't in a way that would annoy you. It captivates you and gives you a good feeling that you are able to figure things out. Even with being able to figure things out, you still get surprised about the way things turn out. Throughout the book you get tiny little clues that don't allow you anything else but knowing small tidbits until it all comes out towards the end of the book. I liked that there was still surprises for me to experiences as I read along.

This was a wonderful story that kept me sucked in to the very end. I even just spent the last 20 minutes before writing this trying to get a date on the next book, but sadly I came up empty. The ending comes in a way that gives you a cliffhanger, but not in a way that makes you want to throw the book. I had the ending come to me with a smile on my face letting me know I don't need to be upset about the way the love story is going. I can definitely see the bumpy ride ahead, but I know I will be putting on my seat belt and holding on throughout the rest of the trilogy.
