Memory Lane Monday #18

This is a new weekly meme that Kristalyn over at The Sarcastic Palmtree and I, Amber at Paradise of Pages, came up with. We have been wanting to re-read some of our favorites but feel overwhelmed by all the other new books coming out that our re-reads get put to the side. That is how we came up with this meme, we decided we don't want to put them aside anymore, so we will be taking turns putting up our reviews on the re-reads we do throughout the month. This does not mean we won't keep up with recent releases as well, it just means we will make more time for those we have read before as well.

__________________________________________________

So here is how this meme will work:

  • Each week the co-hosts will trade off with recapping when it is a re-read or what they have heard so far about the book and the other co-host will put up their review.
  •  The participants can read anything that they remember reading in the past, or something that they have wanted to read that has been around for a while and just haven't gotten around to reading it yet for whatever reason.
  • Participants can decide if they want to recap the book before reading it or just put up a review of what they read.
  • Anyone can join in, just please link back to our blogs as well as add your name to the linky so we can hop around and see what everyone is reading.
  • Please put our banner on your post as well, so we all look the same!
  • We ask you kindly to follow BOTH of our blogs.
  • Most importantly remember to just have fun! :)

__________________________________________________

We will be providing each week a linky that you will be able to also link your posts for us to view. All we ask is for you to put up our banner as well as a link back to BOTH hosts on your post.

The Boxcar Children
By Gertrude Chandler Warner

Synopsis:

Henry, Jessie, Violet and Benny, four orphaned brothers and sisters, suddenly appear in a small town. No one knows who these young wanderers are or where they have come from. Frightened to live with a grandfather they have never met, the children make a home for themselves in an abandoned red boxcar they discover in the woods. Henry, the oldest, goes to town to earn money and buy food and supplies.

Ambitious and resourceful, the plucky children make a happy life themselves--until Violet gets too sick for her brothers and sister to care for her.

This story will delight any child who has fantasized about being on his or her own and overcoming every obstacles

My Recap:

I don't even remember how young I was when I read this book, but I know I was younger than 10. I didn't read much when I was younger, even though I LOVED going to the library. I would check out books all the time but I would let them sit around. I was very active as a child, always outside playing some sport or another. So if I read something, it had to be really good.

I spent a few days reading this book and turning down friends outside just to finish it. I tried to continue on, but I didn't like the mysteries. After book 1, they turned into mysteries instead of just a normal story.

I don't remember too much about this book. The bits I do remember are them cleaning at a stream somewhere in the wood, Henry going to work for money so he could buy food and soup for his siblings. The girls keeping the boxcar clean and like a good home. I know Henry walked into the town everyday for the work. That is about all I remember of it.

I bought this book for Kristalyn's daughter, Ainsley. I knew she would love it just like I did. After I read her review I knew it was time for me to re-read it again too so we could talk about it together. This will be the first chapter book I have re-read from when I was a child, so I am very excited to see how I enjoy it now.

See you all new week :)

Publisher: Simon and Schuster
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars
Pages: 454

Synopsis:

Will love conquer all?

Nora and Patch thought their troubles were behind them. Hank is gone and they should be able to put his ugly vendetta to rest. But in Hank's absence, Nora has become the unwitting head of the Nephilim and must finish what Hank began. Which ultimately means destroying the fallen angels - destroying Patch.

Nora will never let that happen, so she and Patch make a plan: lead everyone to believe they have broken up, and work the system from the inside. Nora will convince the Nephilim that they are making a mistake in fighting the fallen angels, and Patch will find out everything he can from the opposing side. They will end this war before it can even begin.

But the best-laid plans often go awry. Nora is put through the paces in her new role and finds herself drawn to an addictive power she never anticipated.

As the battle lines are drawn, Nora and Patch must confront the differences that have always been between them and either choose to ignore them or let them destroy the love they have always fought for.

My Review:

This book was a great conclusion to the series. I am always afraid of the last book of a series, because I don't want all the time invested in to the book to end up worthless. If the ending sucks, it will have ruined the whole thing for me. Luckily, the ending was fantastic and kept me sucked in, needing to know what happens.

The author does a great job with the ending in the way that she wraps up almost everything. You don't get to know specifics of who is living where or anything, but you at least get closure on most of the people in the story. The ending is also very intense. She makes you think one thing happens and then switches it to something different. I didn't know what was really going to happen throughout the entire book. I would try to guess, but it was never right. I like books that aren't easy to figure out.

Nora annoyed me in parts of this book. She was doing things that she was getting onto Patch for. I felt she was being hypocritical through most of the first half of the book. She was mad at Patch for possibly keeping secrets from her, yet she had a lot of secrets of her own. It got me pretty angry at times, but I knew I needed to keep going and that things would sort themselves out. She eventually won me back over :)

Nora has so much going on within this book. She never seems to get a break. The good thing is, she has Patch by her side the whole time. Even when she thinks she is alone, she ends up getting help from someone. She was able to find out what real friendship was from more than just Vee. I liked getting to know some of the other characters that were kind of side characters in the other books. Scott specifically gets to earn respect from all of us. He comes through quite a bit in this book and it is really nice to read. He kept surprising me more and more throughout the book.

Patch stole my heart in this book. I loved him in the other books, but he won me over hard in this book. I wish I could have Patch all to myself, but sadly he is just in a book :( Even when there is stuff going on to make you discredit him, I kept thinking that it was false information on him. He had changed too much to turn into a jerk at this point. I stayed strong on Team Patch and I am glad I did. He's wonderful!

There is plenty of suspense within this book to keep you sucked in. I woke up this morning ready to read a little bit of it and then maybe watch a movie, but I wasn't able to stop. I ended up plowing straight through all the pages. This series is definitely worth the read and I hope all of you that haven't read it, go out to get sucked into the story. :)

Top Ten Tuesday -- Top Ten Characters I Would Want With Me On A Deserted Island

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme brought to you at The Broke and the Bookish!! Each week we will be releasing a top ten book related list for you all to enjoy!

I decided to do mine kind of random this week. I went with a little of everything. Some (most) for eye candy, some for help to stay alive, and some just because I felt like it. To me, this is the perfect company I would want with me on an island.

Top Ten Characters I Would Want With Me On A Deserted Island

1. Ash
(The Iron Fey Series)

I loved Ash as I read this series. He was a big reason I kept reading on, I just needed more. Plus he has faerie powers that could even help heal us and is kick ass with a sword :) I should also mention I won't mind looking at him along the way!

2. Dimitri
(Vampire Academy Series)

Oh man on this one. I have a lot of guys on here for eye candy, but no character has come close to making me drool after them as this character. He is my number 1 book boyfriend and I have a feeling he always will be. He is kick ass, but there is more too him than that. One that accent, I would have him talk to me all time, though I might not get anything done that way. I also love his heart, he puts up that front of being a guy with no feelings, but that is so far from the truth. This is the one character that is the full package. He could be my friend, boyfriend, eye candy, body guard, and wisdom. I couldn't think of anyone I would want more with me than Dimitri. (and no, I will NOT share!!)

3. Weasley Twins
(Harry Potter Series)

These two won my heart a long long time ago. There is just something that has always drawn me into them and I wish there was more of them in the books. I loved their loyalty to those they love, no matter the consequences that can happen along the way. They joked a lot, but when it came down to anything of real importance, there wasn't anyone you could count on more. That alone would be awesome to have them with me on the island, but it would be nice for them to keep me laughing!

4. Patch
(Hush, Hush Saga)

Like Ash, Patch is around for not only eye candy, though yes he seems yummy, but also for this ability to protect me. He has all sorts of powers and could use those on pretty much anything that proved to be a danger.

5. Alice and Jasper
(Twilight Saga)

I put these two together, because lets face it, you aren't getting one without the other. I would love to have Alive for her quirkiness as well as just a girl to talk to along the way. I don't get along with many girls, but Alice seems like one that I would enjoy having around. Jasper has the ability to affect the moods in the area, so I figured since they were a team, he could be there to help calm me down in times when stress gets to be too much.

6. A.J.
(Drenaline Series)

I knew I wanted a character from the Drenaline series, but I was between A.J. and Topher. Topher would be really happy being on the island since the boy could surf while he was out there, and he is such a wonderful person. But my heart kept going back to A.J. He has such a hard time and the poor guy needs a break. Plus his loyalty knows no bounds. He is such a well spirited dude no matter what is thrown at him. When he finally does get some responsibility, he does such a great job. I decided he was the best pick to bring along because I know he could handle anything if given the chance.

7. Dumbledore
(Harry Potter Saga)

I'm pretty sure this one self explanatory, but how can you beat his powers and also his wisdom. He would be able to give me advice along the way as well as helping me figure it all out on my own.

8. Katniss
(Hunger Games Trilogy)

Katniss definitely wouldn't be my BFF on the island, but I would love her wisdom on how to survive out in the wild. We could build snares and traps and she could also go hunting so all of us could eat. She is a good addition when you want to survive on the land. Just to clear it up, I like Katniss, I just think out personalities would clash too much to be considered great friends.

9. Tamani
(Wings Series)

I love Tamani. He was my first Fae crush. I had to include him. Plus he has some good body guard skills, I could keep him around me at all times :)

10. Peeta
(Hunger Games Trilogy)

Peeta would be with me not only because he is such a sweetheart, but because of his disguising. His art ability would come in handy when building our shelters as well as hiding ourselves if that is ever needed.

Then Nora crosses paths with a sexy stranger, whom she feels a mesmerizing connection to. He seems to hold all the answers...and her heart. Every minute she spends with him grows more and more intense until she realizes she could be falling in love. Again.

My Review:

Read my recap for this book Here.

I seem to need to start this review with a confession. I didn't read this book. I used it as Memory Lane Monday because I was 95% sure that I read this before. I really thought I read the first 3 books and just didn't get to the last book. I was wrong. I knew about halfway through the book that there was no way I read it before. I would have remembered something along the way, but I had nothing. I already did a recap for this book though, so I decided to go ahead and do the review here anyway. I do want to say I am sorry for being wrong in thinking I read it before.

Now that that is out of the way. I LOVED this book. I was so sucked in. I did the few things I needed to get done then I sat down with the intent of finishing the book today. That definitely happened. I even sat around after the book just staring at the ceiling as I replayed parts of the book in my mind.

It was hard for me to see Nora without her memory. I was like NOOOO WHAT ABOUT PATCH!!!! I saw in the synopsis she falls in love with him all over again and it made me smile. It was nerve racking though watching everything unfold all over again.

Patch does his best to stay away, or at least show he is staying away. He is there the whole time she just doesn't know it. I couldn't be mad at him at all for the way he was acting because I know he was doing it all for her. It makes you melt just thinking of his dedication to her. He would rather be in pain himself than for anything to happen to her.

I did hate how everyone was hiding things from her. They thought they were helping her get over things, but they were just hurting her and letting her know that she couldn't really trust anyone. She eventually gets people in her life that she can trust or finds a way around it, but it was still very frustrating. I am like the poor girl has been through enough, she at least deserves the truth.

This book definitely is full of suspense. The other books had it too, but not like this one. The whole time you are wanting to find out how she finds things out. Then when she does figure things out, you have to then wait some more to see what she is going to do about it. It is nerve racking. There is no way you can put the book down once you start. I wasn't going to go to bed until I knew how it ended. It was slow in parts, but not in the way that you are able to walk away for a while. She does a great job of keeping you sucked in the whole time.

This book is pretty much set in the same place as the others. There is some of her at school, a lot at her house, and then the rest is her at a few places around town. I liked how she kept the places similar so you could still relate to where she was. I hate when authors throw in too many new places and it makes it hard to follow. This doesn't do that at all, it is easy to follow :)

I was not able to guess the ending. I could somewhat guess how it was going to end in a way, but I couldn't tell you how it was all going to happen. I was in the dark through most of the book. I love books that keep me guessing and this book definitely did. I couldn't figure really anything out and it kept me reading even more.

Anyone out there who loves paranormal or a suspenseful romance would love this book. It will keep you sucked in to the final pages!

Discussion: Kindle Unlimited, good or bad?

So I just went to go onto Amazon to check out the price of a movie I can't seem to find anywhere in town, when I saw on the main page something about Kindle Unlimited.

It caught my eye because it had things that looked kinda like paper hats as well as paper boats, but one of the main boat/hat things was of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone cover. I wanted to see what it was about.

I saw that it is where you pay 9.99 a month and you can read any of the kindle books, as many as you want, for the one price each month. They also let you listen to as many audio books that you want throughout the month.

I am not one to like to read on a Kindle. I prefer to read a real copy of a book. But for the price I am paying to buy books anymore, especially ones that I find I don't like so much, this is the way cheaper way to go. I have 3 bookshelves each with 5 shelves on each one, and they are all full. I am in need of about to buy a new one just to be able to support my book buying habit.

If I get the Kindle Unlimited, I would be able to save a lot of money and buy only the books that I really enjoy in a hard copy. I have this problem where if I buy a book, I don't want to get rid of it because of the money I spent, if I read them on the Kindle, I could screen what I buy in hard copies. So, the logic makes sense.

My question here is, even though it is going to save me money, how badly is this going to hurt authors? This just seems like a bad deal for them because I don't see them making much off this deal. I feel like if there are readers like most of us here in the blogging communities that read many books within a month, how much money is this going to take from the authors. Is this going to make authors think twice before publishing on ereaders anymore? I am really curious about this.

Authors out there, if you are reading this, I would love to hear your side and opinion on this matter before I continue on with possibly buying a kindle. Fellow Readers, how do you feel about this new addition to the ereader world??

Should I buy a kindle and try to fit in with the ereader craze finally, or continue on buying books as I have been??

Synopsis:

Can you fall in love with a voice? This witty romance, told entirely through phone calls, chronicles the tale of a wrong number gone right.

It all started with a wrong number. The voicemails Lucy left on James’s phone were meant for someone else—someone who used to have James’s digits. But then when James finally answers and the two start to talk, a unique bond forms between the two teens.

Gradually Lucy and James begin to understand each other on a deeper level than anyone else in their lives. But when James wants to meet in person, Lucy is strangely resistant. And when her secret is revealed, he’ll understand why…

My Review:
Lucy calls a number to try and get a plaque made and finds out the hard way that the number is for a teenager, not the guy. She then gets into a friendship with the guy strictly through phone calls, since she doesn't text message. Is it possible to learn to love someone when you haven't heard or seen anything other than their voice?

This book sounded so cute to me. I wanted to read it right away. I have read other books like this, usually they live a lot further away, but I found out fast they live just a little bit apart. So I was in this why don't you guys just go ahead and meet, you are so close.

The characters annoyed me. One minute James is saying he will be there for her no matter what, but when she says she isn't ready to tell him certain things yet, he gets all pissed off and hangs up on her. Then if she says anything about another guy, he gets all jealous and threatens to hang up again. He seemed to always be angry. He also says he likes Lucy, but still talks about how he thinks he is still in love with his ex. I am like okay, that is definitely romantic....not.

The Lucy is clammed up most of the time, but she expects him to spill information about himself. She interrupts him quite a bit and then gets mad at him for a lot of things too. I felt like the whole book was mainly them arguing. I didn't feel like the personalities meshed at all, yet somehow they were saying that they liked each other.

This book makes them take months to finally decide to meet. They have one time where they go to meet but something happens where they end up not being able to. This pisses Lucy off and she spends the next half of the book saying she isn't ready to meet now. If I was James and I had the address to her house, I would have just drove over anyway so I could meet the girl that I was supposively falling in love with.

I did however enjoy the book, it wasn't so horrible. It was written in a text/email style way where you get the dates and the times of the phone calls. Then you end up seeing Lucy or James to show when they switch who is talking. There are no chapters in this book, so I would leave off on a page that starts a new phone call.

I would have given this book a 4 out of 5 stars even with all the fighting because it was still cute. It was nice to see the characters try to get to know each other even when they both have their own weird qualities. They both had something hard to hide yet they didn't know they both knew what the other was hiding until the end. I gave this book a 3 instead of a 4 because of the ending. You don't get to really find out how their first meet went because once the phone hung up, the book ended. James really wants to know what Lucy looks like and you don't get to find out how he feels. I was hoping they would end up meeting and then talk on the phone about it later and then end it. The whole book is leading up to them meeting and then you don't even get the closure on it. It annoyed me.

This is still a cute summer read that you can easily read in just one sitting. You end up flying through the pages because of the way it is formatted. I didn't expect the format it was in, but it made it to where you just couldn't stop. Even with all the fighting and annoyance between the characters you still find yourself turning the pages in suspense of what was going to happen next.

Memory Lane Monday #16

Silence
By Becca Fitzpatrick

Synopsis:

WHEN SILENCE IS ALL THAT'S LEFT, CAN THE TRUTH FINALLY BE HEARD?

Nora Grey can't remember the past five months of her life. After the initial shock of waking up in a cemetery and being told that she has been missing for weeks - with no one knowing where she was or who she was with - she tried to get her life back on track. Go to school, hang out with her best friend, Vee, and dodge mom's creepy new boyfriend.

But there is this voice in the back of her head, an idea that she can almost reach out and touch. Visions of angel wings and unearthly creatures that have nothing to do with the life she knows.

And this unshakable feeling that a part of her is missing.

Then Nora crosses paths with a sexy stranger, whom she feels a mesmerizing connection to. He seems to hold all the answers...and her heart. Every minute she spends with him grows more and more intense until she realizes she could be falling in love. Again.

My Recap:

I read the synopsis for this just now, and man, I am so in the dark. I know I read this book, but NOTHING and I mean nothing sounds familiar.

With that said, it sounds amazing. I know I loved it at the time and was so mad that I wasn't able to go out and buy the next book. I ended up having to wait a while for the next one so I forgot a lot of it. I knew I was going to have to re-read all the others in order to make sure I didn't forget anything important in the other books.

I didn't want to forget anything at all and miss out on parts in the books that would make sense to me if I had remembered it all. So I finally get to spend the time to finish up the series here soon :)

I can't wait to see how Patch makes her fall in love with him all over again!!

We will be back next week with our review or recap!

What about you? What do you remember about the time that you read this book/series? Would you like to read it with us?

Review -- Rough Waters

18721567Rough Waters
Author: Nikki Godwin
Release Date: June 17th, 2014
Publisher: Self-published
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Pages: Roughly 175 pages
Format: E-book, bought

Goodreads | Amazon | Barnes and Noble |

Synopsis:

Haley's future has been waiting on the west coast for the past year, but she isn't the only new face in Crescent Cove this summer. When Colby Taylor's parents locate him and interrupt his surf competition, the surf star spirals out of control, dragging Drenaline Surf's reputation through the mud and into the ground with him.

With Colby's secrets plastered across surf magazines and tabloid headlines, Haley takes on the job of playing damage control for Drenaline Surf - which isn't easy when Colby breaks everything he touches, Topher breaks the law, and Miles breaks his leg.

Instead of chasing dreams of forever, Haley spends her summer chasing the unraveling careers of the hottest new faces in the surf world, and she's about to learn what happens when forever doesn't last.

My Review:
Nikki has outdone herself....again. Each time I think the books can't get any better, they do.

This book is set back at Crescent Cove in California. Haley has graduated high school and is now moving out to California to be with her friends and boyfriend, Vin. She is ready for an awesome summer like the one before, but she finds out very quickly that it won't be that way. Her boyfriend is distant and pretty much ignores her and there is so much drama going on, she is ready to flee. But does she?

Vin in this book really really annoyed me. I was in this you spent the last year having a long term relationship with this girl, then when she moves out there for good, you ignore her. WTF! The more I read about him, the more I was pissed off, but I am pretty sure that was meant to be since even Haley kept saying she was pissed off at him.

Nikki does her thing and makes you rethink some of the characters. They grew up quite a bit in just the last year. It is nice to see them all going on with their lives and trying to do something about it. Even ones that didn't start off that way end up with responsibilities that would make anyone proud.

There is definitely lots of drama in this book, but not in the usual high school way. Its definitely celebrity drama, but it all seems to work out okay.

Now I need to get onto you Nikki, THAT ENDING! It was great, but it definitely was a cliff hanger, I HAVE to know more. I am now in the limbo waiting for the next one to come out. I hate having to wait months until the next one, but the series is definitely worth it. I will wait as long as it takes, even it is pains me to do so.

The thing that I love about Nikki's books is they all have a message. No matter the topic, they all leave you with something to take with you. This one I was able to pull out of it "Don't give up." I don't know if that was the original message, but that is how I took the story. No matter what happens in your life, you need to keep going. Times may be rough at times, but it is how you handle it that makes you stronger. I loved the meaning. It was the main thing that kept me reading through the whole book in one sitting. I only stopped to eat some dinner, then I was right back into the story. I had to know how things turned out.

There is so much that happens in this book, I tried to guess where things were going, but it just wasn't working. I had some of it right, parts of it were obvious, you just had to wait for it to unfold. Other things happened that I had no idea would happen.

This book is truly wonderful. I keep thinking that one book is my favorite, but then another book comes out that keeps taking my breath away. Nikki is an indie author that definitely needs to be swiped up by a publisher. If anyone deserves a book deal, its her.

I hope all of you go out and get this book as well as the first book, because they are well worth the read. I will continue to be a huge Nikki Godwin supporter and I know if you all give her a chance, you will all fall in love with her too!

Book Blitz -- This Summer

___________________________________________

This Summer
Author: Katlyn Duncan
Release Date: July 9th, 2014
Publisher: Carina UK
Tour Host: YA Bound Book Tours

Goodreads | Amazon | Book Depository |

Synopsis:

Before college, before responsibilities, Hadley Beauman and best friend Lily are determined to have a summer to remember. There will be all the usual dramas - ex-boyfriends who don't seem to know what 'ex' means, pesky younger brothers with unrequited crushes, but what Hadley didn't anticipate was the out-of-the-blue return of the seriously hot boy-next-door, Will Carson. The boy who broke her heart when he skipped town two years ago.

Will may have shot up a foot and filled out (oh yes), but inside he carries the weight of guilt - for leaving, for coming back... Now he's just passing through to tie up loose ends but it's clear the old chemistry still crackles between him and Hadley. Trouble is, it's built on two years of lies...

This summer might just be the best time of their lives, but is Hadley ready for everything to change - again?

Excerpt

Will & Hadley’s reunion

I enter the hallway, making a point to relax my shoulders. Lily still knows how to push my buttons. I make my way to Mr. Beauman’s office and just before I knock, I hear Hadley’s voice. It’s wrong but I lean closer to the door, listening.
“A little warning would have been nice, Dad.”
Mr. Beauman says something, but I can’t make it out.
“Well,” Hadley continues, “don’t expect him to stick around longer than he chooses.”
Her form nears the door and I don’t have a chance to move just as the door flings open.
A version of the sixteen year old girl I left two years ago stands in front of me. I was right, her braces are gone.
    “Hey,” I say.
“Hi,” she says with a shake of her head.
We stand frozen in place for a few seconds before Mr. Beauman speaks. “You all set?”
    Hadley jolts and steps aside.
I brush past her. Her scent follows me. Strawberries. I place the application and waiver down on Mr. Beauman’s desk.
“Great,” he says. “I’ll see you in a few.”
I turn to the door and she’s still there, her lips parted. I open my hand, signaling for her to go down the hallway first. I struggle to keep my eyes on hers, fighting the urge to move across every inch of her body. She turns and scurries down the hall in front of me, granting my wish. She’s grown into her curves since I saw her last. Her long legs carry her quickly.
She stops at the double doors leading to the front part of the office and turns around. “Did you hear—I didn’t mean—”
“I heard you,” I say, watching her face crumble. “But you’re right. I need to get back.”
    “To Texas?”
My teeth grind together. Aunt Mabel did give Mr. Beauman a version of the truth, but I can't help but wonder what Hadley knows. “Yes.”
She nibbles on her lower lip. She nods twice before freeing her lip. My gaze drops to her mouth. She leans against the door and opens it. I hold it for her, my arm grazing her shoulder.
She offers a polite smile. “Then I guess we should make the best of it while you’re here.”
I lean closer. “Sounds good to me.”
She turns around, entering the room.
“Who left last minute to open up the position?” I ask, not wanting to stop talking to her.
“My—” She shakes her head, strands of her hair falling across her face. She pushes them back behind her ear. “Carter Daniels.”
I clench my jaw. “I just saw him.”
“He’s on the pool staff now apparently,” she mumbles.
People mull around the room, eating off paper plates. Hadley halts, staring at the back of the room. Carter and about a dozen people I don’t recognize have gathered around the table. My hands fist at my sides, looking for any excuse to knock him out.
    “I’ll be right back.”

Just Like the Movies
By: Kelly Fiore
Release Date: July 22nd, 2014

| Goodreads | Amazon | Book Depository |

Pretty and popular track star Marijke Monti is confident about almost everything – she’s got great friends, a great family, and she’s on her way to the State Track Championship. In fact, the only thing Marijke isn’t confident about is her relationship with Tommy Lawson.

Lily Spencer has spent her entire high school career preparing for the future – she’s participated in every extracurricular activity and volunteer committee she could. But, at home, she watches her mother go on date after date with dud-dudes, still searching for “the one.” Lily realizes that she’s about to graduate and still hasn’t even had a boyfriend.

While they live on each other’s periphery at school, Lily and Marijke never seemed to have much in common; but, after a coincidental meeting at the movie theater, Lily gets an idea – why can’t life be like a movie? Why can’t they set up their perfect romantic situations, just in time for their senior prom, using movie techniques?

Once the girls come up with the perfect plans, they commit themselves to being secret cohorts and, just like in the movies, drama ensues.

My Teaser:

"  And that's when I hear it. Screaming. Crazy, fanatical screaming. Enchanted Emily rolls her eyes and mutters the word 'fangirls.' Reeds nods and A.J. laughs, but I don't buy it. I push off of the tailgate and glance around. Fangirl screams are the kinds you'd hear at a Spaceships Around Saturn concert. This is more of the kind of scream you'd ear if someone in the boyband Spaceships around Saturn was murdered. "

Top Ten Tuesday -- Top Ten Blogging Confessions

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme brought to you at The Broke and the Bookish!! Each week we will be releasing a top ten book related list for you all to enjoy!

I had fun this week with this one. I enjoyed racking my brain to try to figure out things to put on the list.

Top Ten Blogging Confessions

1. I LOVED reading Fifty Shades of Grey. I know so many people hated it, but I really enjoyed it and plan to read it again soon. I read what I feel like no matter the opinion of others.

2. I am a cover snob. Some books even if they sound good will take me forever to get to because I don't like the cover. If I have a book with a pretty cover, I tend to move it up on the TBR list.

3. I don't lend out my books. I have OCD when it comes to my books. They have to be in perfect condition. If something happens to one of my books, I end up going out and buying a new one just because of a scratch on the cover.

4. I have yet to read the Percy Jackson Series. I keep trying to get to it, I even add it to my monthly TBR list a lot, but somehow I always push it aside.

5. I'm bad about getting Galley books and then not reading them. This goes along with #10 with my hate for E-books. But I love the idea of being able to review the books for the authors, I just tend to forget about them.

6. I have probably read 1/3 of the books on my bookshelf. I know I'm horrible. I keep trying to get the list down of unread books, but I keep buying more so it is a never ending cycle.

7. I have an obsession with Faerie books. I didn't know how awesome they were, but now that I have found the world, I am sucked in. I even changed the look of my blog to include Faeries. I have also watched all the Tinkerbell movies because my obsession knows no bounds.

8. I tend to like the book series that most people don't think is very good. Twilight and Fifty Shades of Grey are big examples. I own all the Twilight movies and even own a reading copy of the series and I also have a collector's copy that I don't touch.

9. I have a bookmark collecting problem. I have 2 boxes full of bookmarks and yet I keep buying more. This wouldn't be a problem if I actually rotated all of them out of my books, but I tend to use the same ones over and over.

10. I hate E-books. Please don't shoot me. I like the idea of E-books. So convenient to read and all that. I just when I get down to it, I get headaches and just can't seem to let go of the feeling of a real book. The feel of it and the smell are amazing. Plus anymore I can end up getting most books for cheaper than the Kindle prices anymore. I do still read some review copies on the Kindle, but I am very picky with the ones I accept.
