Memory Lane Monday #33 -- My Dog: The Paradox Review

This is a new weekly meme that Kristalyn over at The Sarcastic Palmtree and I, Amber at Paradise of Pages, came up with. We have been wanting to re-read some of our favorites but feel overwhelmed by all the other new books coming out that our re-reads get put to the side. That is how we came up with this meme, we decided we don't want to put them aside anymore, so we will be taking turns putting up our reviews on the re-reads we do throughout the month. This does not mean we won't keep up with recent releases as well, it just means we will make more time for those we have read before as well.

So here is how this meme will work:

  • Each week the co-hosts will trade off with recapping when it is a re-read or what they have heard so far about the book and the other co-host will put up their review.
  •  The participants can read anything that they remember reading in the past, or something that they have wanted to read that has been around for a while and just haven't gotten around to reading it yet for whatever reason.
  • Participants can decide if they want to recap the book before reading it or just put up a review of what they read.
  • Anyone can join in, just please link back to our blogs as well as add your name to the linky so we can hop around and see what everyone is reading.
  • Please put our banner on your post as well, so we all look the same!
  • We ask you kindly to follow BOTH of our blogs.
  • Most importantly remember to just have fun! :)

We will be providing each week a linky that you will be able to also link your posts for us to view. All we ask is for you to put up our banner as well as a link back to BOTH hosts on your post.

17138271My Dog: The Paradox
Author: Matthew Inman
Release Date: May 7th, 2013
Publisher: Andrews McMeel Publishing
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars
Pages: 32
Format: Hardcover, bought

Goodreads | Amazon | Barnes and Noble |

In My Dog: The Paradox, Inman discusses the canine penchant for rolling in horse droppings, chasing large animals four times their size, and acting recklessly enthusiastic through the entirety of their impulsive, lovable lives. Hilarious and heartfelt, My Dog: The Paradox eloquently illustrates the complicated relationship between man and dog.

We will never know why dogs fear hair dryers, or being baited into staring contests with cats, but as Inman explains, perhaps we love dogs so much “because their lives aren’t lengthy, logical, or deliberate, but an explosive paradox composed of fur, teeth, and enthusiasm.”

My Review:

Read my recap for this book Here.

This book makes me laugh everytime I read it. The dog even looks like my little Moose. That is the name of my chihuahua by the way, Moose.

The book sounds so much like my dog, though I must say, he doesn't eat his own poop thank goodness.

The fact that he calls people he doesn't like Horsebeast is hilarious. He calls his owner a Friendbeast, so I guess that makes me a Friendbeast to my own pup!

I think anyone who is an animal person would love this book. Even if you aren't, I could still see you laughing as well.

There is a line at the end of the book that is definitely my dog. It is a picture of him standing over his owner sleeping. The moon is out in the background and it is all dark. There is a while thought blob that says "Hey wake up. I gotta go stand in the yard and sniff things instead of peeing." My Moosey does this almost every night to my boyfriend and it really hits me how much I love my dog.

This is the kind of book that given you have an animal of your own, you will want to go pick them up and snuggle with them and try to let them see how much you love them. My life is forever changed because of my little Moosey and I thank God for him everyday.

Now I'm off to go annoy Moosey with lots of hugs and kisses!!

We will be back next week with our review or recap!
