Memory Lane Monday #5 (Breaking Dawn)

This is a new weekly meme that Kristalyn over at The Sarcastic Palmtree and I, Amber at Paradise of Pages, came up with. We have been wanting to re-read some of our favorites but feel overwhelmed by all the other new books coming out that our re-reads get put to the side. That is how we came up with this meme, we decided we don't want to put them aside anymore, so we will be taking turns putting up our reviews on the re-reads we do throughout the month. This does not mean we won't keep up with recent releases as well, it just means we will make more time for those we have read before as well.

So here is how this meme will work:

  • Each week the co-hosts will trade off with recapping when it is a re-read or what they have heard so far about the book and the other co-host will put up their review.
  • The participants can read anything that they remember reading in the past, or something that they have wanted to read that has been around for a while and just haven't gotten around to reading it yet for whatever reason.
  • Participants can decide if they want to recap the book before reading it or just put up a review of what they read.
  • Anyone can join in, just please link back to our blogs as well as add your name to the linky so we can hop around and see what everyone is reading.
  • Please put our banner on your post as well, so we all look the same!
  • We ask you kindly to follow BOTH of our blogs.
  • Most importantly remember to just have fun! :)

We will be providing each week a linky that you will be able to also link your posts for us to view. All we ask is for you to put up our banner as well as a link back to BOTH hosts on your post.

"Don't be afraid," I murmured. "We belong together."

I was abruptly overwhelmed by the truth of my own words. This moment was so perfect, so right, there was no way to doubt it.

His arms wrapped around me, holding me against him... It felt like every nerve ending in my body was a live wire.

"Forever," he agreed.

When you loved the one who was killing you, it left you no options. How could you run, how could you fight, when doing so would hurt that beloved one? If your life was all you had to give, how could you not give it? If it was someone you truly loved?

To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, a tumultuous year of temptation, loss, and strife have led her to the ultimate turning point. Her imminent choice to either join the dark but seductive world of immortals or to pursue a fully human life has become the thread from which the fates of two tribes hangs.

Now that Bella has made her decision, a startling chain of unprecedented events is about to unfold with potentially devastating, and unfathomable, consequences. Just when the frayed strands of Bella's life-first discovered in Twilight, then scattered and torn in New Moon and Eclipse-seem ready to heal and knit together, could they be destroyed... forever?

My Review:
You can read my re-cap on this book that I put up last week by clicking here.

I was curious how my opinion on this book would be this time around. I think I loved it even more than I did the first time. I was sucked in even more. I also understood things a little better this time around.

The first time I read this book I was so angry that Jacob was still around, though the reason is now different, that my anger clouded my judgment for the book. I understood this time a little more about why he was around and the pull that he has always felt for Bella. So, my hatred for Jacob isn't quite as bad as it was.

I loved the romance in this book. Yes, certain times were a lot more intense than others, but the love they had was still so strong no matter what was going on. They always wanted each other, even when Edward wasn't sure if he was the right one for Bella. Bella knew in her heart who she always wanted, and it was even more clear after the change.

The honeymoon sucked me in. I could have re-read it several times to see they both finally got what they wanted, even if Edward was pretty scared about possibly killing Bella. Though I must say, there was always a chance he could kill her no matter what. I enjoyed it. Of course, since it is YA, the scenes weren't detailed which I enjoyed, because I knew it wasn't going to leave me scarred when it was all over.

I was so mad at Edward for part of this for him wanting to kill something that he had no idea what it was. I understand though, he didn't want Bella to die. There was always a chance the venom couldn't save her and he was scared to death over it. Yes, I said scared to death, even though he is immortal he would have died with her anyway, he would have found a way to make sure of it. When he finally got to hear the mind, he changed quickly and was just as in love as Bella was. I loved how that small thing could change his whole outlook completely. I know it also made him know that Bella could actually have everything he ever wanted her to have, and he got to be a part of it. It was so sweet.

I love how Meyer did that in the book. She took something that was intense already and sucked you into the pages even more. I know so many hated this series, but I know just as many people love it (whether some are secretly or not). She was able to suck us all into the pages and held us there for 4 books.

I also liked how she split it from Bella to Jacob for a small part of the book. I hated it the first time I have read this book, but I didn't mind it so much this time around. I understood it as I said before. I was able to watch Bella from the outside and watch her progress. Though I wish it would have been following Edward's mind instead. I think I would have liked reading his emotions a lot more than I would have Jacob, but we all know I'm biased. :)

This is still my top 3 series I have read and I have a feeling it will stay there for the rest of my life. Breaking Dawn is also my favorite book in the series. I love Twilight, but the joy I get from Breaking Dawn just can't compare. I got my own happy ending within the pages and I always end the book with a huge smile on my face. This time around I am still smiling. I am already to start re-read the series all over again!

Couldn't Put It Down!!

We have decided now that it is the end of the series, we will now be flip flopping off our recaps and reviews. I will be starting a recap next week with The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer and Kristalyn will have her review for Breaking Dawn up :)
