Memory Lane Monday #4 (Eclipse & Breaking Dawn)

This is a new weekly meme that Kristalyn over at The Sarcastic Palmtree and I, Amber at Paradise of Pages, came up with. We have been wanting to re-read some of our favorites but feel overwhelmed by all the other new books coming out that our re-reads get put to the side. That is how we came up with this meme, we decided we don't want to put them aside anymore, so we will be taking turns putting up our reviews on the re-reads we do throughout the month. This does not mean we won't keep up with recent releases as well, it just means we will make more time for those we have read before as well.

So here is how this meme will work:

  • Each week the co-hosts will trade off with recapping when it is a re-read or what they have heard so far about the book and the other co-host will put up their review.
  • The participants can read anything that they remember reading in the past, or something that they have wanted to read that has been around for a while and just haven't gotten around to reading it yet for whatever reason.
  • Participants can decide if they want to recap the book before reading it or just put up a review of what they read.
  • Anyone can join in, just please link back to our blogs as well as add your name to the linky so we can hop around and see what everyone is reading.
  • Please put our banner on your post as well, so we all look the same!
  • We ask you kindly to follow BOTH of our blogs.
  • Most importantly remember to just have fun! :)

We will be providing each week a linky that you will be able to also link your posts for us to view. All we ask is for you to put up our banner as well as a link back to BOTH hosts on your post.

In the dead silence, all the details suddenly fell into place for me with a burst of intuition.

Something Edward didn't want me to know. Something Jacob wouldn't have kept from me...

It was never going to end, was it?

As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob - knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which?

My Review:
You can read my re-cap on this book that I put up last week by clicking here.

I knew I loved this book from the last time I read it, though I weirdly didn't remember much from it. I found out as I was reading it that it was because it tends to drag in the beginning. It wasn't horrible, it had a lot that was going on in it so I stayed interested. It deals a lot with them trying to find out who is making the newborn vampires in Seattle.

I loved the relationships in this book. I saw that Bella was trying to be a good daughter to her dad, was trying to be a good girlfriend to Edward, and was still trying to be the best friend of Jacob. That can be a lot to juggle. Especially when Jacob and Edward don't get along. I was so proud of Edward when he didn't ask Bella to stay away from Jacob anymore. He tried to put aside his jealousy in order to make her happy.

I love the ending of this book, well I should say the last 150 pages. I liked being to read about her not sure about getting engaged. She was so worried about marriage for some reason, though she wanted her forever fairy tale ending with Edward. I liked being able to go through her head and watch her really think it all through. We all know what she decided on :)

The love Edward has for her is breathtaking. I loved reading about it and I really just can't get enough of it. It sucks you in for sure. I still hated Jacob in this book. He did everything he could to try to get her to change her mind. He knew her weakness and he played on them, which I didn't think was right or fair. Some people need to learn that they can make decisions by themselves. Just because you don't like the decision, doesn't mean you have the right to try and change it.

I laughed at the part where Bella punched Jacob. It made me smile quite a bit. I liked her explanation of the act as well. The way she told Charlie and then Edward why she punched him. It was even more funny when Charlie still wanted her with Jacob, but even Charlie was telling Jacob he had a death wish. Charlie is such a great character.

I liked how she spent the time to try and go between their normal everyday life, but also tried to keep you up to date with what was going on in Seattle. She did a great job of giving the story a big climax. Then when you think that it is all over in the field, she throws a curve ball out there when it comes to the romance world in the story. It kept you sucked in until the very last page and you just had to run out to get Breaking Dawn in order to keep going!

Couldn't Put It Down!!

Breaking Dawn
by Stephenie Meyer

"Don't be afraid," I murmured. "We belong together."

I was abruptly overwhelmed by the truth of my own words. This moment was so perfect, so right, there was no way to doubt it.

His arms wrapped around me, holding me against him... It felt like every nerve ending in my body was a live wire.

"Forever," he agreed.

When you loved the one who was killing you, it left you no options. How could you run, how could you fight, when doing so would hurt that beloved one? If your life was all you had to give, how could you not give it? If it was someone you truly loved?

To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, a tumultuous year of temptation, loss, and strife have led her to the ultimate turning point. Her imminent choice to either join the dark but seductive world of immortals or to pursue a fully human life has become the thread from which the fates of two tribes hangs.

Now that Bella has made her decision, a startling chain of unprecedented events is about to unfold with potentially devastating, and unfathomable, consequences. Just when the frayed strands of Bella's life-first discovered in Twilight, then scattered and torn in New Moon and Eclipse-seem ready to heal and knit together, could they be destroyed... forever?

This was one of my favorite books of the series. I, of course, loved Twilight, but this book is also very dear to me. I loved everything that happened in the beginning. I also loved the very end of it.

I remember that part of the book is from Jacob's eyes, not Bella's. Since I am not a big Jacob fan, I remember hating this part of the book. I am hoping since I know the whole story I will be able to read it a little better. I skimmed over it quite a bit the first time I read this book.

I remember most of this book, I am surprised (minus Jacob's mind). The other books were kind of fuzzy, but this book is definitely really clear.

I love the love that is in this story. There is so much that goes around. I also liked the more steamy parts of the books. I know a lot of books out there will hint towards dirty things, but they usually don't end up happening. It was nice to read a series where everything actually goes through. I commend the author for this. She set everything up how she wanted it and made sure it happened.

I know when I ended this book when I read it years ago, I was in a big book coma. I walked around thinking about it. I was so messed up with it that I had to go back and re-read the ending several times in order to get a daily dose of the characters. It took me a good 2 weeks before that stopped. I walked around like a zombie till I finally got out of it. I am hoping this time around I will still love it just as much, but it won't leave me so broken when it is okay.

Let me just say I won't be broken because I don't like it, I will be broken because I love the story so much I don't want it to end. This series will forever be a part of me, I always thought that the first time I read the series, but this time around I love it even more. That has let me know that it will never leave my heart. :)

We will be back next week with our reviews on this book!
