Memory Lane Monday #3 (New Moon & Eclipse)

This is a new weekly meme that Kristalyn over at The Sarcastic Palmtree and I, Amber at Paradise of Pages, came up with. We have been wanting to re-read some of our favorites but feel overwhelmed by all the other new books coming out that our re-reads get put to the side. That is how we came up with this meme, we decided we don't want to put them aside anymore, so we will be taking turns putting up our reviews on the re-reads we do throughout the month. This does not mean we won't keep up with recent releases as well, it just means we will make more time for those we have read before as well.

So here is how this meme will work:

  • Each week the co-hosts will trade off with recapping when it is a re-read or what they have heard so far about the book and the other co-host will put up their review.
  • The participants can read anything that they remember reading in the past, or something that they have wanted to read that has been around for a while and just haven't gotten around to reading it yet for whatever reason.
  • Participants can decide if they want to recap the book before reading it or just put up a review of what they read.
  • Anyone can join in, just please link back to our blogs as well as add your name to the linky so we can hop around and see what everyone is reading.
  • Please put our banner on your post as well, so we all look the same!
  • We ask you kindly to follow BOTH of our blogs.
  • Most importantly remember to just have fun! :)

We will be providing each week a linky that you will be able to also link your posts for us to view. All we ask is for you to put up our banner as well as a link back to BOTH hosts on your post.

I knew we were both in mortal danger.

Still, in that instant I felt well. Whole. I could feel my heart racing in my chest, the blood pulsing hot and fast through my veins again. My lungs filled deep with the sweet scent that came off his skin.

It was like there had never been any hole in my chest. I was perfect - not healed, but as if there had never been a wound in the first place.

For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is even more dangerous than Bella ever could have imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of one evil vampire, but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realize their troubles may be just beginning...

My Review:
You can read my re-cap on this book that I put up last week by clicking here.

My first time reading this series I hated it. I didn't dislike it, I hated it. I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars only because of the ending that it gave. That Edward wasn't gone forever. If he didn't come back in this book, I would have gave the book a 1 possibly a 2. Now that I know how this series ends, I was in a lot better of a mood than the first time around.

I was able to read the story in more detail. I didn't feel the need to rush through it as much. Of course I wanted it to hurry up still, but not in the desperate need that I felt the first time that I read it. I followed Jacob more and tried to give him a little more of a chance. I am still not a Jacob fan, but I have reduced down to dislike instead of hate for him. I hated his mood swings and his jealousy. I know Edward has them too, but they just don't see as severe as Jacob. Jacob does it more from selfishness, Edward always did it more for his love for Bella.

I still loved getting to the end of the book and getting to live with Edward again. He always "dazzled" me and that has yet to change. Even after so many years, he still has the same affect on me as he did the first time around.

I am still having trouble picturing book Edward though. He looks so different in the books than the movies, but I guess from watching the movies so much, I am still picturing the movie Edward. Jacob looks a lot like I expected him to in the movies, so it is a lot easier to change him in the book (except he isn't so tall in the movies).

I am glad to know that I could finally appreciate this book. It is still my least favorite of the series, but it has now earned 5 stars from me :)

I can't wait to move on to Eclipse and get more of the story!

Couldn't Put It Down!!

by Stephenie Meyer

In the dead silence, all the details suddenly fell into place for me with a burst of intuition.

Something Edward didn't want me to know. Something Jacob wouldn't have kept from me...

It was never going to end, was it?

As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob - knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which?

Like my re-cap from last week I don't remember too much. It has been YEARS since I've read this series. I have bits and pieces still in my head, but I don't remember all the fine details.

I remember there is an army of vampires. They are forming in Seattle and eventually coming to Forks, Washington. I remember that Victoria is all behind it as well.

I also remember A LOT of fighting between Edward, Jacob, and Bella. It used to make me mad when I read the book, so I hope this time around I won't get so mad, like I was mad with New Moon. It didn't make me as mad this time around, so I am hoping it will be the same with this book. Though I already know how the story ends now :)

I felt strong emotions the first time I read this book, heck, the end of the book was even so wonderful to me that I couldn't hold back my smiles when I read it years ago. I even spent hours going back and forth to my bookshelf in order to re-read parts of the story. It made me super happy and also consumed me at the same time. I am hoping those same emotions flow through me this time around as well. I want intense emotion from a book again :)

We will be back next week with our reviews on this book!

What about you? What do you remember about the time that you read this series? Would you like to read it with us?

Be sure to leave your links below :)

  1. I love the emotions that you have for this series! You really don't like Jacob do you? lol It kind of makes me smile just because he isn't all THAT bad to me. It also helps knowing how the series ends I think. I like him more than I did, even though I never HATED him like you. :) Great job lady!

  2. I actually really like Jacob too. Although I would definitely choose Edward. Glad that there are more people who admit that they like twilight! So many book bloggers say they hate it...

Comments are loved and appreciated :) Thanks in advance!!
