Memory Lane Monday #2 (Twilight & New Moon)

This is a new weekly meme that Kristalyn over at The Sarcastic Palmtree and I, Amber at Paradise of Pages, came up with. We have been wanting to re-read some of our favorites but feel overwhelmed by all the other new books coming out that our re-reads get put to the side. That is how we came up with this meme, we decided we don't want to put them aside anymore, so we will be taking turns putting up our reviews on the re-reads we do throughout the month. This does not mean we won't keep up with recent releases as well, it just means we will make more time for those we have read before as well.

__________________________________________________

So here is how this meme will work:

  • Each week the co-hosts will trade off with recapping when it is a re-read or what they have heard so far about the book and the other co-host will put up their review.
  • The participants can read anything that they remember reading in the past, or something that they have wanted to read that has been around for a while and just haven't gotten around to reading it yet for whatever reason.
  • Participants can decide if they want to recap the book before reading it or just put up a review of what they read.
  • Anyone can join in, just please link back to our blogs as well as add your name to the linky so we can hop around and see what everyone is reading.
  • Please put our banner on your post as well, so we all look the same!
  • We ask you kindly to follow BOTH of our blogs.
  • Most importantly remember to just have fun! :)

__________________________________________________

We will be providing each week a linky that you will be able to also link your posts for us to view. All we ask is for you to put up our banner as well as a link back to BOTH hosts on your post.

Publisher: Little Brown
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars
Pages: 498
Format: Paperback, Bought

Synopsis:

About three things I was absolutely positive:

First, Edward was a vampire.

Second, there was a part of him - and I didn't know how dominant that part might be - that thirsted for my blood.

And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

When Bella Swan moves to the gloomy town of Forks and meets Edward Cullen, her life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. With his porcelain skin, golden eyes, mesmerizing voice, and supernatural gifts, Edward is both irresistible and impenetrable. Up until now, he has managed to keep his true identity hidden, but Bella is determined to uncover his dark secret.

What Bella doesn't realize is the closer she gets to him, the more she is putting herself and those around her at risk. And it might be too late to turn back...

My Review:
You can read my re-cap on this book that I put up last week by clicking here.

I have stated many times that I have loved this series since I read it, even when I didn't want to read it. I was forced to read it, but I am very glad that I was. I loved the series from the first chapter. I read the entire series in less than a week, which at the time was a HUGE accomplishment for me. I didn't really read at all, let alone a series that had so many pages between the 4 books.

I was able to picture the whole thing the first time I read it, from the way they all looked to the area that they lived in. I even went to Phoenix to visit family a few years after I read this and I remembered when I was there that Bella was from Phoenix. It made me smile.

This time around on the book I had a little trouble at first. Not because it wasn't good, but because I have watched the movies many many times. I was having trouble getting the movie version of this book, as well as the characters, out of my head. The first time I read this book, I had no trouble seeing how Edward was supposed to look. When I read it now, I was picturing Edward from the movies, which looks nothing like the Edward in the pages. After a while I was able to purge that from my mind and get sucked into the pages again.

It's been so long since I have read the series, since I haven't ever re-read this series. I watched the movies a lot and that made me not read the books. But I have forced myself to not watch the movies in 2 years so I could enjoy the books more when I read them. I forgot all the differences between the movies and the books. So I guess I forced myself not to watch them for no reason.

I loved this book just as much if not more than the first time around. I was worried with me knowing all that happens for the most part I wouldn't enjoy it. That actually helped me to love it even more this time. I knew what was going to happen in the end, so I was able to pull more of the details out of the pages. Instead of tearing through the pages to know what happens, I was able to take my time a little more and appreciate the story fully. I got to fall more in love with Edward and love the Cullen family a great deal more.

I love the characters, the area that they are in, and the nice flow throughout the story. I could feel all the emotions and the struggles that everyone goes through within the story. Edward has always captured my heart. I have always found Rosalie to be stuck up, though I always hold hope she will change that eventually. I love the brotherly love Emmett shows even so early on within the story. Also, Alice and Jasper are probably my two favorite characters other than Bella and Edward. They can always make me smile.

I know so many people have an issue with this series, I was worried I would hate it this time around because of all the negativity on it. I was scared that my love for it will have changed after reading so many other books. That definitely couldn't be further from the truth. I am still a "Twi-hard" and I am pretty sure I will always be. I know it is a different take on vampires, but that doesn't mean it is bad. We are all entitled to our own opinions and my opinion will remain that this series will always be close to my heart.

Couldn't Put It Down!!

Recap

49041
New Moon
by Stephenie Meyer

I knew we were both in mortal danger.

Still, in that instant I felt well. Whole. I could feel my heart racing in my chest, the blood pulsing hot and fast through my veins again. My lungs filled deep with the sweet scent that came off his skin.

It was like there had never been any hole in my chest. I was perfect - not healed, but as if there had never been a wound in the first place.

For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is even more dangerous than Bella ever could have imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of one evil vampire, but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realize their troubles may be just beginning...

I don't remember too much from this book. That is mainly because out of all of the books, this one was the one I didn't like the most. As I stated last week, I am Team Edward. I was from the start. So when Jacob comes into the picture, I hate him.

Most of this book deals with Jacob being around, so I found I had a hard time reading through it. I know some important stuff happens within this book, so I will definitely be re-reading it, but I know I won't enjoy it as much as the others.

I also remember Bella being very upset throughout this book. I understand completely of course, I just remember that to be the way of it.

I know all of the Jacob though will be worth it for the ending of this book :)
