Top Ten Tuesday -- Top Ten All Time Favorite Books in Sci-Fi/Fantasy & Contemporary Genre

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme brought to you at The Broke and the Bookish!! Each week we will be releasing a top ten book related list for you all to enjoy!

This week was a little difficult for me. I didn't know what genre I wanted to post up for you all. I decided to do top 5 in Sci-Fi/Fantasy and top 5 in Contemporary. That way it wouldn't be quite as hard. These are in no particular order, except perhaps Harry Potter being number 1 :)

Top Ten Five All Time Favorite Books/Series in Sci-Fi/Fantasy

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)1588156
1. Harry Potter Series
by J.K. Rowling

I really don't think I need to say anything here :) We all know and love this series. We have all be affected by the pages and will have the story live on for the rest of time.

2. The Iron Fey Series
by Julie Kagawa

This is by far the best Fae series I have read. It had soooo much detail in it. Even when it was slow, there was still so much going on within the pages that you still couldn't stop reading. It is definitely my number 2 spot of best series of all times. #TeamAsh

3. The Vampire Academy Series
by Richelle Mead

I really don't know what to say about this series other than praise it. It was fantastic. This was one of the series that I DIDN'T want to read. I am so mad at myself for that. I only started the series because I got all 6 books for less than 25 bucks at the store. Then it sat on my shelves for months. I decided to give it a chance and devoured it. I definitely love the series and will recommend it for the rest of my list! #TeamDimitri

4. Wings Series
by Aprilynne Pike

If any of you have read my posts, you will know I love Fae books. This is the series that sucked me into that world. It is original in many ways and I was very much sucked in! #TeamTamani

5. Twilight Saga
by Stephanie Meyer

I know so many of you hate this saga, but it is what got me to read. I still watch the movies every few months and I plan to re-read all them sometime this year. I loved the story and don't mind that it is a little different. I in fact like that about the story. It will forever have a special place in my heart. #TeamEdward

Top Ten Five All Time Favorite Books in Contemporary

1. Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy
by E.L. James

I know I might get a lot of crap for this one, but it is my list and I really enjoyed this story. I know a lot of you didn't or refuse to read it, but I loved it. I got pressured into starting it, but then I was the one who had to keep reading and finish it.

2. When in Doubt, Add Butter
by Beth Harbison

I read this last year, because of the cover. It sucked me in to look at it, then I decided to read the back of it. It sounded really good, so I asked for it for Christmas from my momma. Once I got into the story, I couldn't stop reading it. It had cooking and romance in the same book. It was sooo good! Definitely one of the best books I have read!!

3. American Girl on Saturn, Falling from the Sky, and Chasing Forever Down
by Nikki Godwin

I couldn't pick just one by her, and I didn't want to fill up my whole list either with just her books, even though they would be well worth the slots. I decided to go ahead and list all of her books, they are all amazing!!

4. Anna and the French Kiss
by Stephanie Perkins

I liked Lola and the Boy Next Door too, but not near as much as this one. This book sucked me in to where I just couldn't stop reading it!!

5. Our Song
by Jordanna Fraiberg

I love Jordanna as an author. Both of her books are great, but this one is amazing. It was such a great and detailed story. You will be sucked in for sure!

Well, that's my list for the week! Hope you all enjoy!

  1. I loved Twilight, too, so no apologies necessary! I was forced, and I mean FORCED, to read it, too. I had never even heard of it at the time. In fact, I was even reading YA then. But I got sucked right in. I love VA, too and anything by Julie Kagawa.

    Stephanie @ Inspiring Insomnia

    1. My cousin forced me to read them. She wouldn't leave me alone until I did. They sounded stupid to be honest, but once I started them I couldn't stop!!

  2. OOh nice list! Love the first three in your YA picks! Those were awesome! Have started Aprilynne's series but by that I mean, I read the first book like 2 years ago! Really need to get back to finishing that one! Great choices!

    Here's my Tuesday post

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower :)

    1. Definitely need to finish those books! The ending of it is fantastic!!

  3. This was a really interesting post! I might have to look into the Wings series because fae books are my guilty pleasure without feeling guilty. :-)

    1. Definitely need to check out Wings. It's great!!

  4. You know how I love Nikki's Books! I am going to read FFTS soon and the Iron series! Let me know when you do your re-read of Twilight and I'll join you. I have needed an excuse to read those again. :)

    1. I'm thinking of reading them sometime next month. I might read a couple stand alones first after reading all of harry potter, lol!

Comments are loved and appreciated :) Thanks in advance!!
