The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered—fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she’s known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories.

But Tris’s new reality is even more alarming than the one she left behind. Old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless. Explosive new truths change the hearts of those she loves. And once again, Tris must battle to comprehend the complexities of human nature—and of herself—while facing impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice, and love.

My Review:
Let me first say that I don't understand why so many people hated this book. Yes, a lot happens in it, but it also is a really good story.

This book is set with two different point of views. You follow in some chapters Four and other chapters you follow Tris. At first I didn't understand why she did it this way in the book. In the first 2 books it was following Tris. I learned to like it though when I saw that you weren't always with the two characters together. In fact the book is spent with them being apart a lot for one reason or another. It was nice to see what was going on with both of the characters. You were able to piece things together from both sides.

I know this review might be quite short, but I don't know what to say really that won't give so much away to all of you. I hate spoilers and don't want to do anything to spoil this trilogy for any of you that haven't read it yet.

This book definitely made me cry. I now have trouble from stopping crying just because it hits your emotions hard throughout most of the book. I don't always like books that are like this, but for this book it does work for it. Not all things end happily in this book, but I won't tell you what doesn't work out and what does. Just have a box of tissues ready because if you are anything like me, you might need to wipe away a few tears.

I loved this book. I don't want to read it again anytime soon, but I still really enjoyed it and definitely give it 5 stars. I think she ended it well even if it wasn't the way everyone was expecting it to be.

Couldn't put it down!!

  1. I finished this last night and feel the same - I don't get why people made such a big deal out of the ending, saying they hated this book etc. I thought the way things ended were great!

I loved the alternating chapters too; getting some insight into Tobias was really cool. I kind of liked the break from Tris's perspective and I think it was important to have Tobias's viewpoint, so you could understand why he was behaving the way he did and really know, once and for all, what he was thinking!!

Also ... THE URIAH THING. That was the most traumatic thing for me!

    1. I held it together really well surprisingly till the zip line thing. I couldn't hold it back anymore. I lost it.

  2. I'm glad you liked it! I finished it a couple weeks ago but it wasn't my favorite. I didn't hate it by any means, but to me, it just wasn't as good as I was hoping for it to be. But that's just my opinion (:

  3. See, I didn't 100% love the book but that's not because of the ending. On the contrary, I LOVED how she ended it. I couldn't like it more. My own review goes a little deeper than yours, but I agree -- it's so hard to review this book without spoiling anything or giving anything away!

  4. It's nice to hear good things about this book - there is so much negativity surrounding it! Loved the first two books, and I just found it hard to believe that the last book could be anything but great as well. Thank you for sharing :)

  5. I gave it five stars, too. Yes, there are sad parts, but it's a heck of a ride.

  6. It's nice to read a review that isn't entirely focused on the ending. Personally, I didn't enjoy this one as much as the previous books in the series, but that wasn't necessarily to do with the ending. As sad as it was, I could see where Veronica was coming from and why she wrote it that way. I just felt that the majority of the book was piles of information with very little action until the end. I definitely felt the absence of the world we were in throughout the first two books as it wasn't the same once we got outside the fence.

    Nonetheless, great review!

Comments are loved and appreciated :) Thanks in advance!!
