Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose...

It’s winter break at St. Vladimir’s, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy’s crawling with Guardians—including Rose’s hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand-to-hand combat with her mom wasn’t bad enough, Rose’s tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason’s got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa’s head while she’s making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy’s not taking any risks... This year, St. Vlad’s annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price...

My Review:

I don't want to go into detail with this book or any of the other books in this series just to not spoil anything for you all. So I apologize for you guys not getting more of a description other than the synopsis above.

SOOO much happens in this book. As I stated in my review for Vampire Academy, it was boring through most of it and drawn out, definitely not the case on this one. You right away get some type of action and sit on the edge of your seat for the rest of the book.

You feel so many emotions for all the characters. some characters you end up liking when you hated them. You get to know all of them so much more. Especially Rose. You get to watch her grow up in these pages and I love it. She has such a struggle on all aspects on her life and I want to jump in there and hug her and tell her it will all be okay. Some characters you also want to get in there and say what the heck are you thinking!!, even Rose is in this category. We also get two new characters in this book by the name of Tasha and Adrian. I'm curious to see how much more they come into play further down the road.

There are deaths that occur in this book, throughout most of the book actually that you spend a lot of the time trying to be a guardian yourself and figure it out. I liked that about it. I liked that I could sit there as I read and question in my head what could be doing it and who is behind it all.

I had only read about 50 pages as of last night, and I am a decent reader, but I am not close to a fast reader either. But I spent a few hours sitting around reading. I even told my boyfriend today that I was going to finish the book and start the next one and he pretty much said there was no way. He then looked over to eat his words as I was finishing up the last chapter of the book. I then bent over to kiss his forehead and tell him I was coming to write the review and grab the next book and he laughed at me since I am normally the one who goes to bed early. I can't do that today, I need to know what happens, so I know I will be up late reading as much of the 3rd book as I can before I pass out.

I was always skeptical of this series because I heard it compares to Twilight. After only being 2 books in, I can say it is NOTHING like Twilight. Yeah there are vampires, but that is about the only thing that is the same. As I love Twilight, I don't see how anyone could compare the books. I have watched so many Youtube videos and read so many reviews about these books that I said I had to pick em up. Even after the first book, I enjoyed it but I was still a little iffy on the series, after this book, I can say that is over. I am hooked for most likely the whole series and I am excited about it!

Couldn't Put it Down!!

  1. Haha! Glad you're loving it! I binge read the whole series too! Shadow Kiss is my fave of the series I think so I can't wait for you to read it!! =)

  2. I love this series so much. I think that it's so funny that it's called Frostbite when their are so many hot moments. I love all the action and romance in the second book. It's like the perfect balance of both, and it's so funny.
