Pick-A-Book Thurtsday #17

Pick-A-Book Thursday is a weekly meme brought you by me :) It is here for all of us to get our to be read piles down a little and help us get to the books we really want to read but just never got around to them. We can sit here weekly and talk about books we pulled from our jars or those that don't have jars, those who picked one off their shelf! Click here for the Original post for more details!

If you didn't get to pick from one of the jars above, How are you coming with your pick from last time? Are you enjoying it so far?

* I was able to finish up with Summer of my German Soldier. It was a very nice and thoughtful story. I really enjoyed it. I found out there is a sequel to the book so I am going to have to get it and finish it up! Check out my review for it here!

I have a review book that I need to read before I can start In Your Room but I should hopefully be able to start and maybe even finish this before the month is over :)

Synopsis for my pulls last week!

18579Summer of my German Soldier
By Bette Greene

Goodreads | Amazon

The summer that Patty Bergen turns twelve is a summer that will haunt her forever. When her small hometown in Arkansas becomes the site of a camp housing German prisoners during World War II, Patty learns what it means to open her heart. Even though she's Jewish, she begins to see a prison escapee, Anton, not as a Nazi, but as a lonely, frightened young man with feelings not unlike her own.

In Anton, Patty finds someone who softens the pain of her own father's rejection and who appreciates her in a way her mother never will. While patriotic feelings run high, Patty risks losing family, friends — even her freedom — for this dangerous friendship. It is a risk she has to take and one she will have to pay a price to keep.

Soon they become entwined in each other's secrets, relationships and dreams. Day by day, they grow closer ... even though they're living 1,000 miles apart and have never met face to face.

Can perfect strangers be perfect for each other?

Will Molly and Charlie make it through a summer of
seductions, missed connections and the thousand miles between them to find out?
