Feature and Follow Friday

Hey guys, this is my Feature and Follow Friday post! This post is hosted by two different blogs, Parajunkee and Alison Can Read! This meme is here for everyone to be able to get their blog out there and get more followers!! Links are below for you to look at others, follow them, and link your own blog!

Question:

Activity: How do you handle a book you don't like? Do you DNF or do you power through?

Answer: It really depends on the book for me. If it is a book that I have for review, I will power through it and usually let the author know if it will be a bad review and how they would like me to handle it.

If its one I pick up on my own and it is horrible I will DNF it. Which I will go ahead and say I have only ever done this to one book. I usually will stick through it in hopes that it will get better, most of the time it usually does. If it is unbearable I will give up on it though. I have so many books I want/need to read, that I don't want to waste any more time on a book I can't stand. As I said though, this very rarely happens for me.

Next week's question:

Back to School time! Create a reading list for the imaginary English Lit class you'll be teaching this semester.

    1. Happy Friday, Amber. I'm with you - I have a hard time DNFing, and it's not very often that I do.

Here's my FF post for this week.

    3. Good answer. I used to do the same, but when I take on a book for review, it's always with the understanding that if it's not turning out to be something I enjoy and will more than likely rate below a 3 star, then I won't review it.

    4. If it's an author review, then I ask ahead of time if they can handle a negative review. If the book seems to be a DNF, then I'll email the author and tell them that instead of forcing myself to finish.

    6. Same here, I almost never DNF a book. I clearly remember one of the two-three books I did DNF, I flung it across the room never to be seen again because it was so bad, haha.

    7. I do the same with the books I get for review.

    9. I try to finish but if I'm really not liking it I'll DNF. If it's a review copy I would make myself finish! Don't like to post negative reviews though so would let them know it wasn't my thing.

    10. Great answer, I have to have read at least 100 pages to allow something to occur and capture my attention before I DNF.

    11. Same, really. I feel bad for DNFing books that I've been given to review, but at the end of the day, I try to remember that it's not just a job, it's a hobby that I love, and I don't want to spend it not enjoying what I'm reading >< I hope you're enjoying The Elite, by the way!

    13. I don't finish if it's awful, either. I'm more likely to take a break, start something else, and not come back to a book though. Old follower!
