Top Ten Tuesday -- Top Ten Words/Topics That Will Make You NOT pick up a book

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme brought to you at The Broke and the Bookish!! Each week we will be releasing a top ten book related list for you all to enjoy!
I actually really enjoyed this one this week. I sat going through books on goodreads that others have posted reviews that were good about to see why I didn't have them on my shelf even with the good reviews that they received!
Top Ten Words/Topics That Will Make You NOT Pick Up a Book

1. Zombies -- I know, I'm sorry. I just have never really gotten into the zombies. Even when I hear how good a book is and I even buy it saying I will read it, I never do, I pick up something different.
2. Historical Fiction -- I just can't get into historical stuff, I even hate history as a subject. So for me even if it isn't all true, I feel like I'm getting a history lesson.
3. Horror/Thriller -- I love horror movies and certain thrillers but for me I don't enjoy reading them, If they put the book into a movie I will for sure watch it, but I just never got into reading it through pages, doesn't seem as good to me.
4. Western -- I've never been into westerns in movies or books. I find them extremely long and boring and full of nothing but Indians, cowboys and red dirt everywhere. Not my thing.
5. Political -- I stay out of politics in everyday life, so the last thing I want to do is read about it. yuck.
6. Animal or Child Abuse or Death -- I have a HUGE heart. I can't read stuff like this. I read Marley and Me, and I swear my dog probably wanted to kill me because I wouldn't leave him alone. I had to love on him and snuggle him. It took me a couple months to fully get that book out of my mind. I enjoyed the book, but the after affects weren't worth it. I also read a Child Called It when I was younger and I still can remember the book even after years and years. I can't do it. That stuff kills me.
7. Steampunk -- I have never read a steampunk book, but every book synopsis I read on one, I'm like uhhh...sounds stupid. I know, I'm sorry again. I am not saying they are horrible books, I am sure they are great, just they aren't what I would prefer to read.
8. Religion -- I am all for people have their own beliefs, but I hate reading stuff on this because I feel like I am getting a sermon spoke to me as I read. It completely ruins any type of story for me.
9. Crime -- I love crime shows like CSI and all that, but like the horror/thriller above, I just can't get into reading about it. I like the gore on the TV not on the pages.
10. Real War -- My daddy died when I was 2 in the Gulf War, so any type of realistic military war scenario just destroys me because it flings my daddy into my mind and I end up crying. I also can't watch movies like this either. Its a very big soft spot for me.

I Hope you all had as much fun with this as I did!!

Leave me your links below!

  1. Steampunk! Totally agree, as I do with the rest of your list.

  2. Steampunk is one I've been slowly getting into myself. Most of them are YA with a few adults. Although I guess I'm "cheating" with it due to there being paranormal creatures in it as well!! Zombies...hit or miss really. Have at least 2 series that I know that have zombies in it that I adore! One where they are "people" and the other where they are monsters!

    Nice picks!

    Here's my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower :)

    1. I figured there is always some out there that will go against it and make me kinda consider or like them, but for most of them as a whole, I just dunno, lol! I might get brave and try one someday!

  3. I agree with you on SO many of these, but I didn't think to add them to my list! Great list!

    My TTT:

    1. I ran into more once I was done with the post! I was like ahhh!!! I might need to do more than 10 but I stopped myself, lol!

  4. Good list, I also don't like to read about zombies, westerns or politics.

  5. Western is a good one! I don't think I'd ever touch a western, either! I don't even like the movies...

Comments are loved and appreciated :) Thanks in advance!!
